From December 6 to 7, the award ceremony of the “Huawei Cup” 22nd China Graduate Mathematical Contest in Modeling was held. A team from Yantai Research Institute of Harbin Engineering (HEU), guided by instructor ZHONG Yuan and consisting of graduate students YUAN Xiaotong, HU Xiaohang, and WANG Ruipeng, won the national first prize, demonstrating outstanding innovative thinking, solid professional knowledge, and excellent teamwork. HEU also secured 24 second prizes and 48 third prizes.

The China Graduate Mathematical Contest in Modeling, guided by the Department of Degree Management and Graduate Education of the Ministry of Education and organized by the Chinese Society of Academic Degrees and Graduate Education and the China Association for Science and Technology Youth Science and Technology Center, is one of the themed competitions under the “China Graduate Innovation and Practice Series.” It is an academic contest aimed at promoting applied mathematical modeling research among postgraduate students, serving as a platform for enhancing their ability to construct mathematical models, apply internet information technology to solve practical problems, and cultivate a spirit of scientific innovation and teamwork. This year’s competition attracted 26,229 teams and 78,687 postgraduate students. Centering on national strategic priorities and key technological fields, the contest featured six topics, including wireless communication system link rates, precise identification of surrounding rock fractures, and intelligent fault diagnosis for high-speed train bearings.
