HEU Holds Advisory Meeting on Social Work Discipline Development

Recently, the Advisory Meeting on Social Work Discipline Development was held in the VIP conference room of the Qihang Activity Center. Vice President YU Zhiwen attended and delivered opening remarks.

Seventeen experts and scholars were invited to the meeting to offer insights for the high-quality development of the university’s social work discipline. Attendees included Professor WANG Sibin, President of the China Association of Social Work Education, Professor MA Fengzhi, Deputy Director of the National Committee for Social Work Professional Degree Graduate Education, and Professor LIU Neng, Secretary-General of the same committee.

YU Zhiwen extended a welcome to the experts on behalf of the university and expressed gratitude for their long-standing concern and support for the institution’s development. He stated that in recent years, Harbin Engineering University (HEU) has continuously achieved new progress in discipline construction, initially establishing a comprehensive talent cultivation system in social work spanning undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programs. HEU will thoroughly review and carefully incorporate the valuable suggestions put forward by the experts, further strengthen the foundation for the development of the social work discipline, enhance the training standards and quality of professional degree graduate students in social work, and fully advance the discipline toward a higher level of excellence.

A responsible official from the College of Humanities and Social Sciences presented a report on the current status of discipline development.

The participating experts provided recommendations and unanimously acknowledged the achievements made in social work discipline development. They also suggested that the university should deepen the integration and application of intelligent technology in social work, strengthen the theoretical construction and practical models for the localization of military social work, and expand service scenarios in health social work.

Focusing on the goal of high-quality development in social work, this meeting brought together leading national experts. It not only fully affirmed the distinctive characteristics of the university’s development but also provided targeted recommendations to address bottlenecks and refine the pathway for the discipline’s growth. Moving forward, HEU will integrate the experts’ suggestions and make every effort to advance the construction of the social work discipline, aiming to build a nationally influential academic stronghold.
