On January 7, a delegation led by YANG Hong, President of the Shenzhen Global Marine Center City Development Council, visited Harbin Engineering University (HEU) for a research exchange. President YIN Jingwei attended the symposium, where both sides held discussions on deepening industry-university-research collaboration. Vice President HAN Duanfeng accompanied the delegation throughout the visit and meeting.
YIN Jingwei extended a warm welcome to YANG Hong and his delegation. He stated that HEU is actively integrating into national strategic plans and strengthening cooperation with local governments and enterprises, having achieved a series of breakthroughs in cutting-edge fields such as deep-sea mining and marine equipment. HEU shares a long-standing partnership with Shenzhen and holds broad prospects for future collaboration. He expressed hope to further enhance exchanges and cooperation with the Shenzhen municipal government and local enterprises, focusing on key areas including deep-sea resource development, intelligent marine equipment, and marine electronic information. The aim is to jointly tackle technical challenges, establish collaborative industry-university-research platforms, promote the translation of more scientific and technological achievements into practical applications, and contribute wisdom and strength to national development.
YANG Hong spoke highly of the HEU’s achievements in its distinctive fields of “SMON” (shipbuilding industry, marine equipment, ocean exploration, and nuclear energy application which is “SMON” in short). He noted that the university serves as a vital base for scientific research and talent cultivation in naval architecture and marine engineering, having made outstanding contributions to national development. Shenzhen is accelerating its efforts to build itself into a global marine center city, which urgently requires strengthening the guiding role of scientific and technological innovation. He expressed hope that both sides would take this exchange as an opportunity to focus on strategic emerging industries in the marine sector, deepen practical cooperation in scientific research, talent development, and achievement transformation, and promote the integrated development of innovation chains, industrial chains, and talent chains. Together, they can contribute to fostering new quality productive forces in the marine field.
