On January 8, FENG Yongxin, President of Shenyang Ligong University, led a 4-member delegation to Harbin Engineering University (HEU) for research purposes. The symposium was attended by YIN Jingwei, President of HEU, and presided over by YAN Rujian, Vice President of HEU.
YIN Jingwei warmly welcomed FENG Yongxin and her delegation, providing a brief overview of HEU’s historical development and its school-running philosophy focused on the “SMON” fields. He highlighted HEU’s close alignment with national strategic priorities and its achievements in high-level talent cultivation and national development. He also emphasized the importance of Shenyang Ligong University’s military industry focus and strong research foundation, recognizing the valuable experiences it offers. As both universities are based in Northeast China and share the mission of supporting national defense science and technology, he expressed his hope that this research visit would serve as a starting point for establishing a regular communication and exchange mechanism between the institutions. This would allow for deeper cooperation in talent development, scientific research, and other areas, ultimately contributing to national progress and regional economic and social development.
FENG Yongxin provided an overview of Shenyang Ligong University’s historical evolution and its military industry-oriented approach. She explained that the university focuses on becoming a distinctive application-oriented institution, excelling in disciplines like Ordnance Science and Technology, international joint education, digital empowerment in teaching, and national defense education for all. These efforts contribute positively to national science and technology advancements. FENG praised HEU as a research-driven institution with a rich legacy, profound cultural heritage, and unique operational characteristics, emphasizing that Shenyang Ligong University could learn much from HEU’s successful experiences. She expressed hope that the two universities would further enhance cooperation and extended an invitation for HEU’s experts and scholars to visit Shenyang Ligong University to provide valuable guidance on discipline construction, faculty development, talent cultivation, and scientific research.
