A three-member delegation led by ZHANG Xiaoyong, Party Secretary of North University of China (NUC), visited Harbin Engineering University (HEU) for research exchange on March 5. President YIN Jingwei met with the visiting guests, engaging in discussions on deepening comprehensive cooperation. Deputy Party Secretary ZHANG Shimei presided over the meeting.
YIN Jingwei noted that HEU has cultivated profound research expertise and talent reserves in fields such as marine engineering equipment and underwater information exploration. He highlighted NUC’s fruitful achievements in distinctive discipline construction, which have earned high recognition within the industry. Emphasizing the solid foundation for collaboration between the two industry-oriented institutions, he expressed hope that this exchange would propel their partnership in discipline development, scientific research, and the transformation of scientific and technological achievements to new heights, thereby injecting strong momentum into national development initiatives.
ZHANG Xiaoyong stated that NUC has actively integrated itself into major national development strategies centered on new industrialization and modernization of national security, attaining remarkable accomplishments. He commended HEU’s steadfast commitment to its “SMON” (shipbuilding industry, marine equipment, ocean exploration, and nuclear energy application) educational distinctiveness and high-quality development path under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, which provides valuable insights for NUC’s “Double First-Class” construction. Looking ahead, he expressed hope for enhanced cooperation in talent cultivation, discipline construction, and transformation of scientific achievements to make greater contributions to national development and economic growth.
The two sides engaged in in-depth discussions on transforming scientific achievements, serving local economic development, and national security education initiatives.
Prior to the meeting, ZHANG Shimei accompanied ZHANG Xiaoyong and his delegation on a tour of the PLA Military Engineering Institute Memorial Hall and HEU’s scientific achievement exhibition.
