The two sides held in-depth discussions on disciplinary development, scientific research collaboration, joint platform construction, talent cultivation, and international engagement. Vice President HAN Duangfeng accompanied the visit.

YIN Jingwei provided a detailed overview of Harbin Engineering University (HEU)’s academic strengths, disciplinary programs, research innovation, and talent development strategies. He highlighted that the Institute of Oceanology and his university, as key players in marine science and technology, offer strong complementarity in their disciplinary portfolios and hold substantial potential for cooperation. He expressed hope that the visit would serve as an important opportunity to deepen all-round strategic collaboration between the two institutions and jointly contribute to the advancement of the country’s marine science and technology sector.

WANG Fan extended a warm welcome to YIN Jingwei and his delegation and gave an overview of IOCAS’s achievements in scientific innovation, technology transfer, and graduate education. He noted that HEU, with its long-standing strengths and distinctive focus on naval architecture, ocean engineering, nuclear technology, and polar research, has made notable accomplishments. He emphasized that both institutions share a common mission in serving the nation’s maritime development, and expressed hope that by integrating their respective strengths and deepening consensus, they could establish substantive and regular strategic cooperation. Together, they aim to strengthen China’s capacity for independent innovation in marine science and technology and contribute to the transformation and upgrading of the marine industry.

HEU delegation also visited the Key Laboratory of Ocean Dynamics and Forecasting. Representatives from the university’s Office of Science and Technology and the Qingdao Base participated in the research visit.
