Northeast Agricultural University Leadership Visits HEU for Research Exchange

On April 9, a 17-member delegation led by FU Qiang, Party Secretary of Northeast Agricultural University (NEAU), and LIU Zhuqing, President of NEAU, visited Harbin Engineering University (HEU) for research exchange. SONG Yingdong, Party Secretary of HEU, and YIN Jingwei, President of HEU, met with the delegation. LIU Zhonghua, CHEN Qingshan, and SUN Shijun, Vice Presidents of NEAU, along with HAN Duanfeng and YIN Hang, Vice Presidents of HEU, attended the meeting and subsequent discussions.

SONG Yingdong stated that the two universities have distinctive disciplinary features and highly complementary strengths. He expressed hope for further deepening collaboration, promoting the deep integration of new engineering and new agricultural sciences, and establishing a long-term mechanism for joint talent cultivation, shared research platforms, and mutual outcomes. He also emphasized the importance of exploring new models of science-education integration and contributing wisdom and strength to national development.

FU Qiang highlighted that HEU has made active strategic strides in smart agriculture and achieved remarkable results, providing robust scientific and technological support for agricultural modernization and digital transformation. He noted that both universities are among the first 39 pilot institutions for comprehensive education reform and have much to learn from each other. He expressed hope that this exchange would serve as an opportunity to further build consensus, advance practical cooperation, and create a model of inter-institutional collaboration for innovation.


During the meeting, YIN Jingwei remarked that NEAU and HEU, as neighbors with a long-standing friendship, share a solid foundation for cooperation. He expressed hope that both sides would fully leverage their respective disciplinary advantages, focus on emerging interdisciplinary directions, and explore joint initiatives in discipline development, faculty collaboration, and curriculum design. He also called for fully integrating research chains and establishing efficient and practical cooperation mechanisms to advance the integrated development of education, science and technology, and talent, contributing greater academic wisdom to the revitalization of Heilongjiang Province.

LIU Zhuqing noted that both universities, located in Heilongjiang, share a solid cooperation foundation and broad prospects. He expressed hope that both sides would focus on key areas, deepen collaboration, and jointly explore pathways for interdisciplinary integration between agriculture and engineering through improved cooperation mechanisms and more practical initiatives, producing more innovative outcomes and cultivating high-quality talent to jointly advance the high-quality development of both institutions.

During the meeting, the two sides engaged in in-depth discussions on interdisciplinary collaboration, joint research efforts, co-training of graduate students, cross-appointment of faculty, and resource sharing.
