On May 21, a delegation of four led by HE Guangshun, Chief Engineer of the Ministry of Natural Resources, visited Harbin Engineering University (HEU) to investigate technological achievements, industrial supporting facilities, and the status of industry-university-research integration in the fields of polar scientific research, marine engineering, and special equipment R&D and manufacturing. SONG Yingdong, Party Secretary of HEU, met with the delegation at the Harbin Military Engineering Institute Museum and accompanied them on the visit.

The two sides held a symposium focusing on scientific and technological innovation and development tasks in the polar and marine fields. YIN Jingwei, President of HEU, attended the symposium, and HAN Duanfeng, Vice President of HEU, presided over it. CHEN Hailong, Assistant to the President, ZHOU Ping, Deputy Director of the Natural Resources of Heilongjiang Province, XU Honglei, Deputy Director of the Department of Transportation of Heilongjiang Province and LIU Hao, Deputy Director of Heilongjiang Maritime Safety Administration, participated in the symposium.

HE Guangshun stated that HEU has profound disciplinary accumulation and fruitful scientific research achievements in key areas such as polar regions and deep seas. He hoped that the university would give full play to its scientific research and talent advantages, rely on regional characteristic resources, deepen the research on key core technologies in the polar and marine fields, comprehensively promote scientific and technological innovation, achievement transformation, and industrial empowerment, and make new and greater contributions to serving the country’s major strategies and regional economic and social development.

Yin Jingwei said that HEU adheres to its unique “SMON” educational characteristics, has deeply cultivated key areas such as polar regions and deep seas, and achieved remarkable results. In the future, under the guidance of the Ministry of Natural Resources and with the support of various provincial units, the university will increase the introduction and cultivation of high-level talents, promote the in-depth integration of industry, university and research, strengthen joint research on key technologies, continuously improve polar scientific research and support capabilities, and contribute HEU’s strength to national construction.

Participants conducted in-depth discussions and exchanges on aspects such as scientific research platform construction, key technological breakthroughs, resource element guarantee, and capacity system building.
