On May 27, XU Huiquan, Deputy District Mayor of Chongming People’s Government of Shanghai, led an 8-member delegation to visit Harbin Engineering University (HEU) for investigation and research. The two sides held a symposium on scientific and technological innovation, achievement transformation, talent introduction and cultivation in the ship and ocean engineering industry.Vice President YU Zhiwen attended the symposium.
YU Zhiwen extended a warm welcome to the delegation, expressed gratitude for the long-term support from Chongming to the university, and introduced the university’s characteristics and advantageous disciplines in the field of “SMON” (shipbuilding industry, marine equipment, ocean exploration, and nuclear energy application). He stated that in recent years, the university has achieved remarkable development results, with core indicators achieving leapfrog improvement. The total amount of scientific research funds, per capita scientific research funds, and the contract amount of scientific and technological achievement transformation have all reached record highs. It is hoped that the ecological endowment and industrial resources of Chongming can be accurately connected and deeply integrated with the university’s scientific research strength and achievement accumulation, so as to provide scientific and technological support for the high-quality development of the marine economy.
XU Huiquan stated that based on its geographical advantages and industrial foundation, Chongming is developing the shipbuilding engineering equipment industry on Changxing Island. He hoped that taking this exchange as a new starting point, the two sides would further strengthen cooperation, promote the transformation and implementation of HEU’s innovative technologies and scientific research achievements in the field of ship and ocean engineering, and jointly make greater contributions to advancing the development of the national shipbuilding engineering industry.
At the symposium, relevant responsible persons respectively exchanged and shared their work on the innovation of the university’s scientific and technological achievement transformation system and mechanism, the cultivation of high-quality scientific and technological achievements, the empowerment of regional economic development, as well as the scientific research construction of departments and the establishment of training systems.
