On June 16, Harbin Engineering University (HEU) signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Harbin Welding Institute Limited Company. to jointly establish the “Harbin Welding Institute – Harbin Engineering University Joint Research Institute for Advanced Materials and Intelligent Welding”. LEI Zhen, Chairman of Harbin Welding Institute, and YIN Jingwei, President of HEU, attended the signing ceremony. XU Fujia, Deputy General Manager of Harbin Welding Institute, and CHEN Hailong, Assistant to the President of HEU, were present at the event.
YIN Jingwei stated that Harbin Welding Institute is the only comprehensive scientific and technological enterprise in China’s welding sector that integrates materials, processes, equipment, testing and services, and has made irreplaceable contributions to China’s manufacturing industry. Both based in Harbin, HEU and Harbin Welding Institute have a solid foundation and remarkable outcomes in scientific research and talent training cooperation. He hoped that both sides would take this signing as a new starting point, focus on areas such as high-end welding material R&D and intelligent welding equipment development, jointly plan major scientific research projects, carry out collaborative technical research, co-train high-level talents, produce landmark achievements, and work together to make new and greater contributions to the high-quality development of China’s welding technology and marine equipment, as well as the comprehensive revitalization of Heilongjiang Province.
LEI Zhen noted that HEU, with a profound cultural heritage and distinct educational characteristics, is an important scientific research and talent training base in the “SMON” fields, and has trained and delivered a large number of outstanding talents to Harbin Welding Institute. The university and the enterprise have aligned demands and complementary strengths, leaving broad space for future cooperation. He hoped that both sides would take this agreement as an opportunity to establish a regular communication mechanism, carry out all-round and in-depth pragmatic cooperation in talent training, scientific research, and achievement commercialization, promote the in-depth integration of industry, academia, research and application, accelerate the cultivation of new quality productive forces, and jointly contribute to advancing new industrialization.
YIN Jingwei and LEI Zhen jointly unveiled the plaque of the Joint Research Institute for Advanced Materials and Intelligent Welding, and issued appointment letters to XU Fujia and ZHANG Zhongwu, a professor from the College of Materials Science and Chemical Engineering of HEU, as deans of the institute.
CHEN Hailong and XU Fujia signed the Strategic Cooperation Agreement between HEU and Harbin Welding Institute on behalf of the two sides respectively.
At the meeting, the two sides also signed contracts for their first batch of cooperation projects in key fields including high-strength steel welding, ultra-supercritical materials, and welding digitalization.
