On June 15, Harbin Engineering University held the second meeting of the Strategic Advisory Committee for the Development of Computer Science and Technology Discipline. Attending experts offered guidance and mapped out the future of the computer discipline, to further elevate the university’s discipline construction.
Academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences including Professor HUANG Wei, Professor LÜ Jian, Professor ZHENG Jianhua, Professor QIAN Depei, and Academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering including Professor ZHENG Weimin and Researcher KONG Zhiyin attended the meeting both online and on-site.
YIN Jingwei, President of HEU, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Professor YU Zhiwen, Vice President of HEU, attended the meeting, and Vice President YIN Hang presided over the event.
YIN Jingwei stated that the university focuses on strategic areas such as intelligent internet of things and swarm intelligence computing, as well as marine industrial software, and continues to deepen industry-university-research integration to contribute key strength to the transformation and upgrading of various disciplines. Since the establishment of the Strategic Advisory Committee of the College of Computer Science and Technology, the computer discipline has fully absorbed and adopted suggestions from committee members and experts, continuously advanced the connotation construction of the discipline, and achieved remarkable results. He hoped that all committee members would continue to support the university’s development and provide valuable insights, to help the discipline better serve national strategic needs and cultivate top-notch innovative talents.
The second meeting was chaired by CAS Academician LÜ Jian. Relevant officials from the College of Computer Science and Technology of HEU reported on the progress of computer discipline construction from aspects including disciplinary foundation, characteristic directions, and construction ideas.
The attending experts highly affirmed the achievements of the university’s computer discipline, and held in-depth discussions on its characteristic development, high-end talent introduction and cultivation, and frontier research layout.
YU Zhiwen stated that the experts, standing at the frontier of the discipline, fully recognized the phased progress of the discipline, pointed out its shortcomings, and clarified the path for future growth. After the meeting, the university will effectively integrate the experts’ suggestions into the discipline development plan and translate them into specific work measures. It will further refine disciplinary directions, strengthen talent team building, improve the level of organized scientific research, better serve national strategies, and help the university’s “Double First-Class” initiative reach new heights.
