On July 8, a three-member delegation led by SHAO Yunzhen, Deputy Director of the Guangdong Provincial Department of Education, visited Harbin Engineering University (HEU) for research and held a symposium with GENG Jing, Assistant to the President of HEU. The two sides engaged in in-depth exchanges to explore new pathways for comprehensive coordinated development.

SHAO Yunzhen expressed gratitude to HEU for its long-standing active contributions to industrial development in Guangdong Province, particularly in technical support and talent cultivation. He outlined the development landscape and talent and technology demands of Guangdong’s marine industries, advanced manufacturing, and nuclear energy sectors within the Greater Bay Area. He expressed the hope that, building on HEU’s disciplinary strengths in “shipbuilding, marine engineering, ocean exploration, and nuclear applications,” and taking the current cooperation agreement discussions as an opportunity, the two sides would establish a routine provincial-university coordination mechanism, engage in deep and practical collaboration, and bridge the innovation, industrial, and talent chains to jointly facilitate Guangdong’s industrial transformation and upgrading as well as national development.
GENG Jing welcomed SHAO Yunzhen and his delegation and briefly introduced HEU’s development history and educational characteristics, with a focus on the university’s collaborations with local governments and enterprises in Zhuhai, Shenzhen, and Guangzhou in response to the industrial needs of the Greater Bay Area. She expressed the expectation that both sides would work together to formulate a strategic cooperation agreement and detailed implementation measures in areas such as joint talent cultivation, key technological breakthroughs, co-construction of innovation platforms, and commercialization of research findings. Leveraging their complementary resources and strengths, they aim to deepen and solidify provincial-university coordinated development.
Participants from both sides engaged in thorough exchanges and discussions regarding the agreement content, cooperation platforms, and implementation safeguard mechanisms, accelerating the signing and roll-out of the strategic cooperation framework agreement.
