On July 8, a delegation led by YU Tao, Vice President of the University of South China (USC), visited Harbin Engineering University (HEU) for research and exchange. The two sides held in-depth discussions on topics including academic program optimization and adjustment, curriculum teaching reform, faculty teaching competence development, and AI-empowered education and instruction. HEU Vice President ZHAO Yuxin attended the symposium. Assistant to the President GENG Jing chaired the meeting.

ZHAO Yuxin noted that HEU has been committed to fostering a new ecosystem for cultivating top-notch innovative talents, and that a series of educational and teaching reform initiatives have significantly enhanced the quality of talent development. He highlighted USC’s longstanding efforts in building its distinctive “nuclear specialty and medical brand,” which have yielded fruitful results. He expressed the hope that both universities would continue to deepen cooperation, conduct regular exchanges, learn from each other, and jointly promote the high-quality development of education and teaching at both institutions.

YU Tao provided a brief overview of the University of South China. He commended HEU for its deep-rooted academic heritage and distinctive strengths in shipbuilding, marine engineering, ocean exploration, and nuclear applications. Noting HEU’s selection as one of the first national pilot institutions for comprehensive higher education reform, he highlighted its innovative approaches to talent cultivation as a valuable model for USC. He further expressed hope for strengthened collaboration between the two universities, fostering synergistic innovation and mutual growth, and contributing to the country’s broader development goals.
