From August 22 to 25, the 9th Chinese Conference on Pattern Recognition and Computer Vision (PRCV 2026) was held at the Yabuli Hall of the Harbin International Convention and Exhibition Center.
ZHAO Rongguo, Deputy Secretary-General of the People’s Government of Heilongjiang Province; YIN Jingwei, President of Harbin Engineering University; ZHOU Jie, Chair of the 9th PRCV; and LIU Chenglin, Vice President of the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence, attended the conference and delivered addresses.
ZHAO Rongguo stated that Heilongjiang Province would take the conference as an opportunity to intensify efforts in leveraging its distinctive scenario advantages to drive the implementation of cutting-edge technologies, establishing new paradigms for university-industry collaborative innovation, and fostering an open, win-win development environment. These efforts, he noted, would secure opportunities for the revitalisation and development of Heilongjiang and contribute to achieving high-level scientific and technological progress.
YIN Jingwei remarked that Harbin Engineering University, as the host institution, would use the conference as a catalyst to further advance the disciplinary connotation of its programmes, expand its research community in pattern recognition, deepen industry-academia-research collaboration, and accelerate the translation of research outcomes into practical applications, thereby making greater contributions to national development.
ZHOU Jie observed that, with the conference being held in Harbin, participating experts and scholars should fully leverage the Northeast’s unique real-world application scenarios to bridge fundamental algorithmic research with complex, authentic environmental challenges. He urged all attendees to cherish the opportunity for exchange, uphold a rigorous and pragmatic scholarly spirit, and engage in collaborative problem-solving around major national needs, so as to expedite the advancement of computer vision technologies.
LIU Chenglin expressed his hope that the conference platform would foster interdisciplinary integration across the country and facilitate the practical deployment of research results. He called on researchers to target critical industry bottlenecks and venture boldly into uncharted academic territories, while deepening industry-academia-research collaboration and concentrating efforts on core technologies in response to pressing national demands. The Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence, he added, would continue to play a leading role in shaping the discipline system of artificial intelligence and work alongside other academic societies to contribute to the high-quality development of pattern recognition and computer vision in China.

Academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, LI Deren, ZHAO Chunjiang, DENG Zhongliang, and HE You; Chinese Academy of Engineering Foreign Academician SONG Yongduan; Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, Joseph Kittler; Chief Operating Officer of CASIT, YU Jia; Academician of the Hong Kong Academy of Engineering Sciences, KWOK Nga-Man; Academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, XU Zongben, LI Shutao, and ZHANG Yanning; and Academician of the Academy of Engineering Singapore, MA Kaiguang, each delivered plenary keynote speeches.
The conference featured a rich academic programme, comprising over 30 academic exchange sessions, during which participating experts and scholars shared the latest research advances on frontier topics and discussed the future of the industry.
Five specialised committee meetings were held concurrently, organised by the Computer Vision Committee of the China Computer Federation, the Visual Big Data Committee of the China Society of Image and Graphics, the Pattern Recognition Committee of the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence, the Machine Vision Committee of the China Society of Image and Graphics, and the Pattern Recognition and Machine Intelligence Committee of the Chinese Association of Automation.
An enterprise exhibition area was also specially designated during the conference.
The Chinese Conference on Pattern Recognition and Computer Vision is a major comprehensive academic event. Since its inaugural session in Guangzhou in 2018, and through eight editions of development and consolidation, it has become one of the most influential comprehensive academic gatherings in the fields of pattern recognition, computer vision, and artificial intelligence in China.
