Recently, the first event of the 2026 “Polar Knowledge on Campus” Heilongjiang stop was held at Harbin Engineering University (HEU).

YIN Jingwei, President of HEU, FU Wenwu, Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission of the Publicity and Education Center of the Ministry of Natural Resources, and SHI Han, Deputy Director of the Heilongjiang Provincial Department of Natural Resources, attended the event and delivered speeches. LU Kaidong, Director of the Publicity Department of HEU, also attended.
YIN Jingwei stated that HEU serves the nation’s major strategies and has continuously deepened its work in fields such as polar ship equipment, ice-zone technology, and polar acoustics, achieving a series of landmark results. He noted that science popularization is the cornerstone of innovation and expressed the hope that students will maintain a spirit of inquiry, cultivate scientific interests, build solid skills based on their professional studies, and write their youthful endeavors where the country needs them most.
FU Wenwu highlighted that HEU has produced fruitful results in polar equipment research and development, deep-sea exploration, and other fields, and has supplied a large number of talents for China’s polar cause. He expressed the hope that students will understand and love the polar regions, ignite their enthusiasm for exploring the polar regions and delving into scientific research, and looked forward to more social forces caring about and supporting the polar cause and contributing to the nation’s development.
SHI Han pointed out that “Polar Knowledge on Campus” is an important brand event dedicated to polar science popularization, and expressed the hope that this event will bring polar stories into the classroom. He looked forward to all parties deepening collaboration in science popularization, leveraging Heilongjiang’s ice and snow endowments and the scientific research advantages of universities to tell China’s polar stories and Longjiang’s natural resources stories well.
HAN Xiao, a representative of polar expedition team members, LI Yawen, a senior engineer at the National Ocean Technology Center, and WANG Hainan, communications supervisor at the Polar Research Station Management Center of the Chinese Arctic and Antarctic Administration, respectively shared polar stories based on their personal experiences, imparted polar scientific knowledge, and answered questions from students on site.

At the event, a video link connected to China’s Great Wall Station in Antarctica. DAI Yufei, Station Chief of China’s 42nd Antarctic Expedition at Great Wall Station, introduced the station’s situation online and interacted via video with student representatives on site.
The event organizers presented models, polar and ocean science popularization books, and other items to Harbin Engineering University.
This event aimed to popularize polar scientific knowledge, spread the spirit of polar scientific expeditions, and inspire the scientific enthusiasm of young people to explore the mysteries of the polar regions.
