On September 18, the “Intelligent Connected New Energy Vehicles — Intelligent Hybrid Power Technology” symposium was held at the China Hall of Science and Technology.

The Carbon Neutrality Research Institute of Harbin Engineering University(HEU), leveraging its research foundation and disciplinary strengths in power equipment, energy utilization, and intelligent control, served as the lead organizer responsible for the conference’s organization, implementation, and academic planning, promoting high-level exchanges among universities, research institutes, and industry around major issues in the development of intelligent hybrid power.

More than 30 experts from universities, research institutes, and industry participated in the symposium. Professor LIU Long of Harbin Engineering University and Professor XIE Hui of Tianjin University served as executive chairs, while Associate Professor ZHAI Chang of HEU and Dr. WANG Jinyang of Tianjin University served as academic secretaries.

The symposium featured three keynote reports. Professor LI Xianguo of the Ningbo Institute of Materials Technology and Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences; WANG Hui, Deputy Chief Engineer of Guangxi Yuchai Machinery Company Limited; and ZHOU Wei, Senior Director of the China Automotive Strategy and Policy Research Center, delivered reports respectively. During the open discussion session, participating experts exchanged views on topics including hybrid technology roadmaps, the role of artificial intelligence, and scenarios and configurations, drawing on their research foundations and engineering practices.

Participating experts unanimously agreed that intelligent hybrid power is an effective solution supporting the nation’s implementation of a medium- and long-term flexible energy strategy, an important intersection of the energy revolution and the intelligent revolution, and a matter concerning national energy security.

Professor LIU Long, executive chair of the conference, stated in his summary that the symposium reached broad consensus on the fundamental judgment that multi-scenario, multi-configuration, and multi-fuel approaches represent the inevitable direction of future power development, and raised non-consensus issues regarding the path selection for integrating artificial intelligence with power. The conference will produce a preliminary research report on intelligent hybrid power, a compilation of expert views, and a policy recommendation report to support scientific government decision-making. LI Shusheng, Vice Chairman of the Chinese Society for Internal Combustion Engines, delivered concluding remarks, stating that participating experts had engaged in thorough exchanges on the development trajectory of integrating artificial intelligence with power, and that the society would carefully study experts’ suggestions on strengthening organizational development in the intelligent power field and continue to advance related work.
