On 28 September, WEI Yiming, Vice President of Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT), led a two-member delegation to Harbin Engineering University (HEU) for a research visit. The two sides held a symposium focusing on international exchange and cooperation as well as talent development. YU Zhiwen, Vice President of HEU, attended the meeting.

On behalf of HEU, YU Zhiwen extended a warm welcome to the delegation. He noted that BIT and HEU both serve and support the country’s industrialisation and information technology development. In recent years, BIT has delivered remarkable progress in disciplinary development with distinct strengths and features, and stands at the forefront of China in scientific and technological innovation, internationalised education and high-level talent training. HEU, for its part, focuses on the SMON. The two universities have different strategic focuses and complement each other in serving national strategic needs. He expressed hope that the two sides would further strengthen inter-university communication, learn from each other’s best practice in internationalised education and talent development, and jointly promote the high-quality development of education at both institutions.
WEI Yiming stated that HEU has formed distinctive characteristics and set an exemplary example in formulating and implementing development strategies, advancing international exchanges and cooperation, and conducting country and regional studies. With complementary strengths between BIT and HEU, he hoped the two sides would deepen practical cooperation, translate exchange outcomes into tangible work results, and jointly make greater contributions to national construction and development.
