On May 27, the 46th Annual Track and Field Sports Meet of Harbin Engineering University was held in the North Stadium. GAO Yan,  secretary of the Party Committee, YAO Yu, president and deputy  secretary of the Party Committee, and other leaders, YANG Desen, academician of CAE, and some former school leaders attended the opening ceremony. GAO Wanxin, secretary of the Party Committee and Director of HEU Sports Committee, presided over the opening ceremony.

24 delegations full of energy, passion, and fighting spirit walked with neat and powerful steps passed through the rostrum on parade. Each delegation conveyed the characteristics and culture of each unit in different forms of expression, some of which were passionate, and some novel and interesting, showcasing the positive and optimistic mental state and uplifting spirit of HEU teachers and students. The delegation of the Engineering Academy and the YAN Qingqiong delegation, who participated for the first time, attracted everyone's attention and received cheers from the audience.

In his opening speech, GAO Yan expressed sincere gratitude on behalf of the school to all the athletes, referees, and staff who made the effort to successfully hold this sports meeting and he reviewed a series of new achievements and developments in the sports work of HEU in recent years. He said that physical education is the cornerstone of education and a fundamental project for improving students' comprehensive quality and implementing the fundamental task of cultivating morality and talent.

The wonderful cultural and sports performances interspersed between competition events, featuring cheerful dances, rhythmic cheerleading, cute puppets, neat jigsaw puzzles, and stunning drums, expressing the love of HEU teachers and students for the upcoming 70th anniversary of the school and their sincere wishes.
