On November 20th, the opening ceremony of the 7th Xinghai Forum for international Young Scholars was held online. Nearly 700 young scholars from more than 20 countries and regions, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, Canada, and Australia, attended the online forum. Gao Yan, Secretary of the Party Committee of the University, and President Yao Yu attended the meeting. Vice president Yu Zhiwen presided over the meeting. Relevant leaders, and representatives from 19 teaching units and functional departments attended the forum online and offline.

The “Xinghai Forum” is a practical measure to implement the strategy of strengthening the university with talent in the new era. The forum is an important matter for promoting high quality development of the university's talent. Before November 28, it will organize 19 teaching units to hold sub-forums.

The opening ceremony has attracted more than 3,000 young scholars from around the world, and more than 1,000 young scholars have established contact with each school. Since 2016, Harbin Engineering University has successfully held seven sessions of the “Xinghai Forum”, which has attracted nearly 4,000 young scholars to establish contacts with the university and more than 600 outstanding young teachers to join the University. The effect of gathering talent has gradually emerged and has played an important supporting and promoting role in expanding the popularity and influence of the university which has enabled the university to establish a team of high-quality talent.
