LIU Haibo, professor from the College of Computer Science and Technology of Harbin Engineering University, was shortlisted for the 2022 Ministry of Education - Huawei “Smart Base” Outstanding Teachers Award Program.

Recently, the list of the second Ministry of Education - Huawei “Smart Base” Outstanding Teachers Award Program was announced. A total of 20 outstanding teachers were selected in 2022, and Professor LIU Haibo, the course leader of Artificial Intelligence in the College of Computer Science and Technology of HEU, was selected.

In September 2020, under the guidance of the Ministry of Education, HEU was selected as the first batch of smart base, production and education integration collaborative education base. It aims to create a new engineering education platform, and carry out in-depth cooperation with Huawei in talent training, production and education integration and other aspects. The first batch of 34 professional courses were co-built, covering 11,600 students. After two years of construction, 71 students were awarded the “Smart Base” scholarship and 7 teachers were awarded the “Smart Base” Outstanding Teachers Award. Successfully applied for a number of honors such as “Virtual Teaching and Research Section of Zhihai AI Course”, a pilot project for the construction of the virtual Teaching and Research section of the Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education, providing intellectual and resource support for HEU to cultivate innovative talents.

Under the promotion of the “Smart Base” project, Professor LIU led the establishment of the “Virtual Teaching and Research Section of Zhihai AI Course”. Relying on the university’s educational resources, the virtual Teaching and Research Section brings together the College of Shipbuilding Engineering, College of Intelligent Systems Science and Engineering, College of Computer Science and Technology, College of Information and Communication Engineering, and the “Artificial Intelligence” course teams from Dalian University of Technology and Beibu Gulf University. Using modern information technology to explore the new Teaching and Research section in the era of “Internet +” and “intelligence +”.
