In order to enhance students’ innovation awareness, vision, and ability, and further play the role of Yantai Research Institute and Qingdao Innovation and Development Base in cultivating innovative talents, the first 7-day winter camp for university students in Yantai, Qingdao opened on February 17th. 147 outstanding junior students from 8 colleges of Harbin Engineering University launched a study tour in Yantai and Qingdao, which was full of the charm of cutting-edge science and technology and the distinctive ship and marine culture.

At the opening ceremony, Vice President Yan Rujian welcomed the campers. He hoped the campers would seize this opportunity to enrich their theoretical knowledge and practical skills, and make continuous efforts to promote the development of marine science and technology.

In the “Dean’s talk” session, Guo Chunyu, director of Qingdao Innovation and Development Base, and Sun Shuzheng, vice president of Yantai Research Institute, respectively led the campers to further understand the development planning, personnel training model, scientific research and innovation achievements. They give sincere invitation to campers to study and work in Yantai and Qingdao in the future.

Well-known experts and scholars at home and abroad held lectures in the fields of electromagnetic, materials, robotics and so on, and conduct scientific research in the laboratory with campers. The relevant person in charge of the Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau interprets the local talent policy for the campers, so that the campers have an in-depth understanding of the urban development. The seniors also shared with the campers their personal experiences about study and practice in Yantai and Qingdao. They also made the campers have an deeper understanding of the research direction of each professional team and the results of university-enterprise cooperation, campers also visited a number of well-known enterprises in the two places.
