The opening ceremony of Harbin Engineering University “Baiyi Art Museum”

On August 1, the opening ceremony of the "Baiyi Art Museum" at Harbin Engineering University was held. The event was graced by several leaders, including Gao Yan, secretary of the school party committee, and Gao Wanxin, deputy secretary of the school party committee. Many distinguished guests also attended the ceremony, such as the director of the China Urban Sculptors Association, the Director of the Sculpture Art Committee of the Heilongjiang Artists Association, Professor Hong Feng from Harbin Normal University, Shi Jinghan, the general manager of Hongqi City Group, and Mao Meitong, director of business publicity. Vice President Yan Rujian had the honor of presiding over the event.

During the ceremony, Gao Yan and Professor Bai Yi jointly unveiled the Bai Yi Art Museum. Guests were able to witness the Qingdao Pavilion of the "Bai Yi Art Museum" at Harbin Engineering University through video, experiencing a visual feast and being deeply moved by the power of art.

In his speech on behalf of Harbin Engineering University, Gao Wanxin emphasized that the opening of the art museum marked a significant milestone in the school's history, a momentous event in Harbin's cultural development, and a major step forward in the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem of the Huanha Project. Professor Bai Yi, a renowned sculptor, painter, calligrapher, poet, and art theorist with an international reputation, was lauded for his dedication to both art and his homeland. The newly established "Baiyi Art Museum" will serve as a platform for Chinese art in the new era, making unique contributions to the development of Chinese art, Harbin's culture, and the aesthetic education at Harbin Engineering University.

In his speech, Professor Bai Yi expressed gratitude to the leaders, teachers, students, and staff of the university who supported and guided the construction of the "Bai Yi Art Museum". He acknowledged that Harbin Engineering University, rooted in the black soil of Heilongjiang Province, carries a unique cultural heritage after 70 years of development. The university's iconic landscapes, such as apricot blossoms in spring, red maples in autumn, and ice and snow in winter, create an artistic atmosphere on campus. He emphasized the importance of integrating literature, art, and science and technology disciplines in engineering development, empowering the construction of new engineering disciplines, and fostering high-quality development of new engineering talents. As the university celebrates its 70th anniversary, Professor Bai Yi expressed his hope that the power of art will continue to contribute to the institution's high-quality growth.
