On August 4th, the 2023 installment of the Brand Activity Series organized by the China Internal Combustion Engine Society featured the International Academic Annual Conference on Internal Combustion Engines, centered around the theme "Efficient, Low-Carbon, Clean Combustion." The event took place in Harbin. Yao Yu, who holds the positions of President of Harbin Engineering University and Deputy Secretary of the School Party Committee, graced the opening ceremony with his presence and delivered a speech.

Distinguished leaders were in attendance, including Jin Donghan, Chairperson of the China Internal Combustion Engine Society and President of Tianjin University, Su Wanhua, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Professor at Tianjin University, Huang Zhen, Chair Professor at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Zhao Hua, Vice President of Brunel University in London.

In his address, Yao Yu underscored the significance of embracing the challenges and opportunities posed by the pursuit of "carbon neutrality." He emphasized that the university would leverage its expertise in marine power to actively support the national "double carbon" strategy. Yao Yu encouraged all participants to deepen their academic exchanges at the annual conference on "efficient, low-carbon, and clean combustion" within the field of internal combustion engines. This, he believes, will involve fostering forward-looking perspectives and strategic planning for the future development of "low-carbon and zero-carbon" power technologies. He also stressed the importance of seizing the current window of opportunity for green and low-carbon energy development to achieve consensus, promote deeper collaboration, and yield tangible results. Ultimately, he expressed confidence that these efforts would infuse fresh energy, innovative insights, and meaningful contributions into the broader initiative of comprehensive green transformation in economic and social development.

During the opening ceremony, the inauguration of the Expert Advisory Working Committee of the China Internal Combustion Engine Society took place. Li Shusheng, Vice Chairperson and Secretary-General of the China Internal Combustion Engine Society, presented the resolution outlining the establishment of the Expert Advisory Working Committee, along with the list of chairperson members, deputy chairperson members, and secretary-general.
