From August 6th to 9th, the 2023 IEEE International Conference on Mechatronics and Automation, commonly referred to as IEEE ICMA 2023, took place in Harbin. Over 500 experts and scholars hailing from China, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Italy, Japan, South Korea, and various other countries and regions enthusiastically participated in this gathering. The conference provided a platform for in-depth discussions and the exchange of ideas on academic and technical aspects concerning mechatronics and automation. Esteemed scholars of international repute in the field of mechatronics and automation were cordially invited to deliver keynote presentations during the event.
This conference is hosted by the American Association of Electrical and Electronic Engineers and organized by HEU's School of Intelligent Science and Engineering. Professor Caldwell, a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering and an IEEE Fellow, along with Professor Zhang Yonggang from HEU, have undertaken the roles of chairing the conference.
YAN Rujian, Vice President of Harbin Engineering University, delivered a welcoming address. In his speech, he emphasized the university's significance as a pivotal hub for nurturing talent and advancing scientific exploration in the realm of maritime studies in China. Furthermore, he highlighted the distinct attributes of the school's control discipline, particularly in the domains of ship and sea navigation and control. YAN Rujian expressed his aspiration that IEEE ICMA 2023 would serve as an effective conduit, facilitating interactions among researchers, educators, engineers, and managers specializing in mechatronics, robotics, sensors, and automation. He anticipated that the conference would provide a platform to unveil the latest research findings and foster scholarly discussions regarding future trajectories in interconnected fields.
