On September 1st, all teachers and students at the Qingdao Innovation and Development Base came together to celebrate the 70th anniversary of HEU's establishment.
At 10 o'clock in the morning, the sound of military bugles echoed across the base as all teachers and students gathered to watch the live broadcast of the 70th-anniversary innovation and development conference. The main event took place in the lecture hall, with more than 10 sub-venues accommodating the participants.
To mark this special occasion, over 20 alumni who enrolled in 1974, incoming freshmen who entered the university in 2023, and teaching staff from the base visited the school's history museum. They had the opportunity to relive the glorious 70-year history of the university and witness its achievements in education in the modern era.
From its origins as the PLA Military Institute of Engineering to its current status as Harbin Engineering University, the institution has made a significant and lasting impact on the landscape of education in China. The spirit of the PLA Military Institute of Engineering resonated strongly in the history museum, leaving a profound impression on the teachers and students who visited.
In the afternoon of September 1st, the unveiling ceremony of the Chen Geng Youth Science and Technology Innovation Center was successfully conducted at the Qingdao Innovation and Development Base.
On the evening of August 31st, a grand event was held in the lecture hall, combining the 2023 freshman welcome party with a celebration of the 70th anniversary of HEU's establishment. Student representatives from universities, such as Ocean University of China and China University of Petroleum (East China), presented exciting performances to the teachers and students at the Qingdao base.
LIU Zhijian, an alumnus who enrolled HEU in 1987 and is Vice President of the Qingdao Alumni Association, delivered a passionate recitation of the 70th-anniversary songs "1953" and "Snowy Harbin."
The evening reached its climax when teachers and students on stage sang a resounding and majestic chorus of "The Motherland Will Not Forget", eliciting thunderous applause from the audience.
The entire evening culminated with all staff members joining in a rousing rendition of the "School Song," with its melodious sound echoing through the Lecture Hall and resonating across the Qingdao base.
