From September 25th to 27th, the International Conference on Ships and Offshore Structures (ICSOS 2023), jointly hosted by HEU and the ICSOS organizing committee, convened in Yantai. This significant event was attended by WANG Junli, Secretary General of the Chinese Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers, and YAN Rujian, Vice President of HEU, who participated in the opening ceremony.
WANG Junli emphasized that the Chinese Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers views this conference as an opportunity to leverage its strengths and collaborate with industry organizations. Their goal is to bring together scientific and technological professionals, establish a platform for exchange, and facilitate the transfer of scientific and technological achievements. This initiative aims to enhance knowledge in shipbuilding and maritime science and foster international cooperation.
YAN Rujian expressed a commitment to further integrating industry, academia, and research while nurturing strategic emerging industries. The objective is to chart a new development course for the industry and attain notable accomplishments in supporting major national strategies and economic and social development.
During the conference, the International Center for Advanced Safety Studies (ICASS) was unveiled, and the International Demonstration Base for Ship and Marine Equipment Technology in Shandong Province was inaugurated. Additionally, a promotional handover ceremony for the ninth ICSOS venue in Chennai, India, took place in the presence of all participants.

On September 26th and 27th, two concurrent sub-forums featured over 60 scholars from renowned universities, research institutions, and enterprises worldwide. They presented reports related to their respective research areas, focusing on cutting-edge technology in the fields of shipbuilding and marine engineering, facilitating in-depth discussions and knowledge exchange. In the afternoon of the 27th, some attendees visited Yantai CIMC Raffles Marine Engineering Co., Ltd. for a technical inspection.
