On November 4th, the naming and delivery ceremony for the inaugural domestically produced large cruise, "Adora Magic City," took place at Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. Principal YAO Yu, representing a crucial partner unit, was invited to participate in this significant event.
The creation of "Adora Magic City" involved 8 years of scientific research and 5 years of design and construction. In 2015, the China State Shipbuilding Corporation Limited initiated the coordination of domestic research institutes, universities, and other involved entities to demonstrate the first large cruise.
In 2017, HEU actively contributed to the research and development of various technologies, including overall design, networked service platforms, power systems, weight control, and cabin environment control. This effort was based on a multidisciplinary technical foundation covering ship overall and performance, power, control, computer, environment, materials, and chemistry. Over the 8-year research and development process, more than 100 teachers from nine colleges, including HEU College of Shipbuilding Engineering and College of Aerospace and Civil Engineering, along with nearly a thousand master's and doctoral students, participated in the project. HEU's diverse teams upheld the esteemed tradition of the "PLA Military Institute of Engineering," collaborating with industry-related units to innovate, overcome challenges, and diligently complete various research tasks. HEU successfully trained a significant number of professional and technical talents in the field of cruise ships, providing effective support for the successful development and construction of China's first domestically produced large cruise, "Adora Magic City."
