HEU Participates in Global Ocean Summit: 2024 Hong Kong-Macau Marine High-Level Conference

From April 20th to 22nd, the Global Ocean Summit - 2024 Hong Kong Macau Marine High-level Conference took place in Hong Kong. Among the attendees were Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Leung Chun-ying. The opening ceremony saw the presence of Deputy Governor of Shandong Province, DENG Yunfeng, and the Chief Secretary for Administration of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, Matthew Cheung Kin-chung, who delivered speeches. Leading a delegation, Vice President YIN Jingwei of HEU participated in the event and delivered a presentation during a forum. Additionally, the university joined the Ocean Artificial Intelligence Alliance and the International Marine Science and Technology Alliance, initiatives launched during the conference.

The event brought together over 150 participants, including 12 academicians from Hong Kong, Macao, and mainland China, along with leaders from relevant universities, research institutes, and experts and scholars from the marine industry and finance sector. The discussions focused on cooperation and development within the field.

YIN Jingwei presented a forum titled "Marine Intelligent Navigators and Submarine Information Technology," highlighting the national strategic context, the university's research progress, and future prospects in the field.

Throughout the conference, our delegation engaged in extensive discussions with marine experts, scholars, and industry and finance representatives to gain deeper insights into China's marine science and technology landscape, industry trends, finance dynamics, and talent development needs. Preliminary agreements for cooperation in scientific research, technology transfer, and other areas were reached.

The Marine Artificial Intelligence Alliance aims to consolidate expertise in marine and artificial intelligence fields through resource pooling and mutual advantage. Its objectives include collaborative research and innovation, advancing artificial intelligence applications in marine domains, and providing innovative technological support for new marine ventures, ultimately fostering progress in the marine industry.
