HEU Holds 2023 Graduation and Degree Awarding Ceremony

On June 14th, Harbin Engineering University hosted its 2023 Graduation and Degree Awarding Ceremony, celebrating the successful graduation of 3,683 graduate students.

Leaders and faculty members attending the event collectively adjusted the graduates' tassels. 

The ceremony was broadcast live on HEU's official social media platforms such as WeChat, Douyin, and Bilibili, attracting over 700,000 viewers.

Among those present were GAO Yan, Secretary of the HEU Party Committee; SONG Yingdong, President; ZHANG Shimei, Vice Secretary of the HEU Party Committee; YAN Rujian, Vice President; WU Linzhi, Vice Chairman of the University Degree Evaluation Committee; LV Dongshi, Minister of Publicity and concurrently Minister of United Front Work; LI Rongsheng, Minister of Organization; and President's Assistants ZHAO Yuxin, YIN Hang, and GENG Jing. Vice President YU Zhiwen presided over the ceremony.


GAO Yan accepted accolades from the graduating students on behalf of the university. From the College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, YE Yuhuan, LIU Fangxu, and FAN Aolin presented a sculpture titled "Corner of Engineering," crafted by a team of master's students from the class of 2021. Depicting the wing corner of Building 21, the sculpture symbolizes the history and spirit of Harbin Engineering University.

President SONG Yingdong congratulated all the graduates on their successful completion of studies and thanked the parents and teachers who supported them throughout their academic journey. He highlighted the students' personal growth and achievements, forged through hard work and dedication, and emphasized their contribution to the university's high-quality development.

During the ceremony, Vice President YU Zhiwen presided over the awarding of certificates to outstanding graduate students from Heilongjiang Province and the university.

ZHANG Shimei announced the recognition of outstanding graduates from both Heilongjiang Province and the university.

YAN Rujian announced the graduation and degree award decisions for the 2024 cohort. Following the 158th meeting of the University Degree Evaluation Committee, a total of 3,436 master's degrees and 247 doctoral degrees were conferred.

Professor and doctoral supervisor NI Baoyu from the College of Shipbuilding Engineering delivered a message to the graduates on behalf of the faculty.

QI Yue, an outstanding alumna from the 2012 class and currently at the China Ship Scientific Research Center (CSSRC) 703 Research Institute, also shared words of encouragement with the new graduates.
