From July 5th to 7th, HEU hosted the 2024 ICSA Annual Conference. The opening ceremony was attended by distinguished guests including Professor ZHAO Rui, Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences; Director LI Peilin of the Academic Committee of the Chinese Sociological Association; President SONG Yingdong of HEU; and ZHANG Yuyan, member of the Academic Division of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.

The conference, organized by the Chinese Sociological Association and hosted by HEU, drew over 3,700 participants. Among them were vice-chairmen and members of the Academic Committee, as well as leaders from sociological teaching and research units nationwide. The event featured 97 simultaneous forums, setting records for participation and forum count in the association's history.

President SONG Yingdong highlighted HEU's rich cultural heritage and its commitment to nurturing humanities disciplines, particularly sociology, since its inception.

JI Shewei, in his address, underscored the role of sociological research in China's modernization. He encouraged scholars to focus on comprehensive, strategic issues to contribute significantly to Heilongjiang Province's development.
