On July 23rd, the opening ceremony and inaugural class of the 2024 Youth Science Camp Heilongjiang Province Branch took place at Harbin Engineering University (HEU). The ceremony was attended by Vice Chairman YAN Zhijin of the Heilongjiang Provincial Association for Science and Technology, Deputy Director CAO Diefeng of the Heilongjiang Provincial Department of Education, and Vice Secretary ZHANG Shimei of HEU's Party Committee, along with other relevant leaders.

In his address, YAN Zhijin encouraged the participating youth to maintain their curiosity about scientific exploration, engage in diligent study and thoughtful reflection, and gain practical experience to pave the way for mastering core technologies in the future.

ZHANG Shimei expressed that the university would leverage its educational resources and research strengths to offer campers enriching and challenging scientific activities. This approach aims to enable students to learn through practice, innovate through learning, and grow through innovation.

Academician YANG Desen delivered the inaugural class to the campers. Drawing on decades of experience in acoustics and his extensive professional insights, he explained the field of underwater acoustics, helping campers appreciate its significance and allure. Yang also shared personal stories about how individuals in acoustics have made significant contributions to the nation's maritime industry through dedication and perseverance.

Leaders present awarded flags to the branches at Harbin Engineering University, Harbin Institute of Technology, and Northeast Agricultural University.
