On October 24, the International Forum on Cultivating Top-Tier Innovative Talents in the New Era was held at Ocean University of China. WANG Hao, Chief Inspector of the Education Department of Shandong Province, attended the forum and delivered a speech. HEU President SONG Yingdong was also invited to give a keynote address, while Vice President ZHAO Yuxin participated in related activities.
In his keynote speech titled "Exploration and Practice of Cultivating Top-Tier Innovative Talents with a Dual Focus on Engineering and Learning at Harbin Engineering University," SONG Yingdong emphasized that for 71 years, the university has adhered to its motto: "Great Engineering Towards Perfection, Great Learning Towards Distinction." He highlighted the importance of achieving a dialectical unity between "Engineering" and "Learning."
HEU promotes the integration of educational development, technological innovation, and talent cultivation. The university has taken the lead in comprehensive reform demonstration zones, such as the College of Future Technology and the National Characteristic Demonstration Software College. By focusing on curriculum development, HEU has initiated new curriculum reforms at the faculty level and has gradually formed a blueprint for constructing new engineering disciplines. Looking ahead, HEU will continue to integrate education, technology, and talent development, striving to become a world-class university with distinctive characteristics and a global perspective.
The theme of this forum was "Exploration and Practice of Ways to Cultivate Top-Notch Innovative Talents in the New Era," focusing on the key elements of nurturing innovative talent. Discussions centered on constructing mechanisms and models for talent cultivation, with an emphasis on artificial intelligence and exploring new models and pathways for developing top-tier talent in technological advancement. Over 200 university leaders, experts, and scholars from 55 domestic and international institutions, including Shandong University, Xi'an Jiaotong University, Moscow State University, the University of East Anglia, and Newcastle University, attended the conference.
