On January 12, Harbin Engineering University (HEU) held a seminar in Beijing to discuss the high-quality development of the journal Research on Intelligent Society. The event was organized by the journal’s editorial department, with all members of the academic guidance committee and editorial board in attendance.HEU Vice President YU Zhiwen also participated in the seminar and delivered a keynote address.
In his speech, YU Zhiwen emphasized that, in recent years, the university has prioritized the integration of humanities and social sciences with emerging disciplines and cutting-edge technologies. He noted that Research on Intelligent Society is HEU's sole social science journal and plays a crucial role in advancing the "new liberal arts" initiative, which blends liberal arts with engineering. The journal also marks a significant step in the innovative development of sociology at HEU. YU expressed his hope that the journal would serve as an open platform for scholars in sociology and related fields, both domestically and internationally, to share research findings and exchange academic ideas, thereby contributing to theoretical advancements in sociology.
Following the opening ceremony, a roundtable discussion on the journal's development was held. During the session, column editors outlined the journal’s focus areas and manuscript solicitation for 2025. Over 40 senior experts in sociology offered valuable suggestions and insights on the journal’s future direction and development.
