From January 14 to 17, nearly 270 experts, scholars, and student representatives from over 80 institutions, including Peking University, Beijing Institute of Technology, Tsinghua University, Xi'an Jiaotong University, China Institute of Atomic Energy, Heilongjiang Institute of Atomic Energy, and the China Academy of Engineering Physics, participated in the symposium.
The opening ceremony was attended by notable figures, including YE Guoan, an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences; YU Zhiwen, Vice President of Harbin Engineering University; SHA Changqing, Vice President of the Heilongjiang Academy of Sciences; WANG Xiaolin, former Deputy Director of the Science and Technology Committee at the China Academy of Engineering Physics; LI Jinying, President of the Institute of Applied Technology of the Chinese Nuclear Society; DING Youqian, Deputy Director of the Nuclear Chemistry and Radiochemistry Professional Committee of the Chinese Chemical Society and researcher at the China Institute of Atomic Energy; and XU Chao, Deputy Director of the same committee and professor at the Institute of Nuclear and New Energy Technology at Tsinghua University.
Ding Youqian delivered the opening speech, emphasizing the significant role nuclear chemistry and radiochemistry play in modern chemistry. He expressed his hope that the attendees would focus on fundamental research, promote technological innovation, strengthen talent development, foster collaboration, and drive the overall advancement of these fields.
YU Zhiwen highlighted the essential role of nuclear chemistry and radiochemistry as core disciplines of nuclear science and technology. He noted their importance in various fields, including nuclear energy development, spent fuel reprocessing, nuclear technology applications, environmental management, and medical diagnosis and treatment. He encouraged the experts to use the symposium as an opportunity to deepen interdisciplinary research and foster progress in nuclear chemistry and radiochemistry.
SHA Changqing expressed the hope that the conference would facilitate stronger collaboration with domestic peers, the introduction of advanced research concepts and technologies, and the enhancement of scientific research and industrial development in the field.
Academician CHAI Zhifang of the Chinese Academy of Sciences stressed the critical role radiochemistry plays in supporting green development, achieving the "dual carbon" goals, and safeguarding public health and safety.
YE Guoan encouraged attendees to engage in in-depth discussions, strengthen the integration of nuclear chemistry and nuclear engineering, and promote their parallel development.
The symposium was presided over by YANG Suliang, the Secretary-General of the Nuclear Chemistry and Radiochemistry Professional Committee of the Chinese Chemical Society.
