To enhance alumni engagement and support the global development of Harbin Engineering University (HEU), the Hong Kong-Macao Alumni Association was recently established in Hong Kong. President SONG Yingdong attended the event and delivered a keynote speech.

Key attendees included ZHANG Manli, Deputy Secretary for Innovation, Technology, and Industry of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government and Justice of the Peace; SHANG Hailong, a member of the Hong Kong Legislative Council; as well as officials from the Department of Innovation and Higher Education of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in Hong Kong. Over 70 alumni and students of HEU from Hong Kong attended the inaugural meeting.

On behalf of the university, President SONG congratulated the new alumni association. He highlighted that the university's successes were made possible by the dedication and hard work of its alumni. He emphasized that alumni are the university's most valued ambassadors and their support is vital to its continued growth. In 2025, HEU plans to collaborate with alumni around the world to share the "Harbin Engineering University story," further enhance lifelong learning opportunities for alumni, and create a more integrated and responsive communication platform. The alumni association will help the university tap into the collective wisdom and resources of its alumni to advance its “Deep Blue Dream” vision.

ZHANG Manli delivered a congratulatory message on behalf of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government. She noted that the establishment of the Hong Kong-Macao Alumni Association would strengthen cooperation between Hong Kong and mainland universities, research institutions, and businesses, facilitating the sharing of technological innovation resources across regions. ZHANG expressed hope that this event would foster closer ties with the university and pave the way for new collaborative models in education, technology, and talent development.

JIANG Chang, President of the Hong Kong-Macao Alumni Association, spoke on behalf of alumni in Hong Kong and Macao. She shared that the alumni association’s future goals include serving its members, creating industry exchange platforms, and supporting career development. Additionally, the association aims to promote industry-university-research collaboration and introduce talent and resources from Hong Kong and Macao to the university.

The “Gathering Sea, United Hearts” flag of the Hong Kong-Macao Alumni Association was officially unveiled, with alumnus LI Tiebing explaining the flag's design concept.

President SONG presented the “Gathering Sea, United Hearts” flag to the Hong Kong-Macao Alumni Association.


SONG Yingdong also awarded appointment letters to the association's members.

LIAO Lichun, President of the Hong Kong-Macao Alumni Association of Beihang University, offered a congratulatory message on behalf of sister universities.

YE Hui, President of the Jiangsu Alumni Association of HEU, conveyed congratulations on behalf of the university’s mainland alumni associations.

ZHANG Qingyuan, President of the 3H Overseas Alumni Association, also extended his congratulations on behalf of the university's overseas alumni associations.

The Guangdong Alumni Association and Shenzhen Alumni Association presented cultural and creative gifts to the Hong Kong-Macao Alumni Association.

During the event, President SONG held in-depth discussions with alumni from Zhuhai and Shenzhen. He also visited alumni-owned businesses such as Zhuhai Maike Intelligent and Shenzhen Yihua Computer. SONG listened to alumni feedback on the university's educational development, technological innovation, and talent cultivation. University department heads also participated in these discussions and visits.
