Harbin Engineering University Delegation Conducts Exchange Visits to Macao and Hong Kong

To further strengthen the ties between Harbin Engineering University (HEU) and leading institutions in Hong Kong and Macao, as well as to deepen cooperation in education, research, and talent development, HEU aimed to promote high-quality international engagement. From February 11 to February 15, President Song Yingdong led a six-member delegation to visit prominent universities in both regions. During the trip, they met with alumni and student representatives currently studying and working in Hong Kong and Macao.

On February 11, the delegation visited the University of Macau, where they held discussions with President Song Yonghua. Both sides expressed a desire to expand cooperation, focusing on areas such as interdisciplinary integration, innovative talent cultivation, and scientific research. They also emphasized strengthening collaboration in cutting-edge fields like intelligent manufacturing and marine science to foster mutually beneficial development.

On February 12, President Song Yingdong and his delegation visited the Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST), where they met with President Li Xingwei. During their visit, they signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to formalize their commitment to further exchanges and collaboration.

From February 13 to 15, the delegation continued their visit in Hong Kong, where they engaged with universities such as the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), the University of Hong Kong (HKU), the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). They held in-depth discussions with representatives from these institutions and met with alumni and students enrolled in joint training programs.

On the morning of February 13, President Song and his team had a productive meeting with representatives from HKUST, including Vice President Wang Yang. The discussions focused on potential cooperation in faculty and student exchanges, joint talent development, and collaborative research efforts.

Later that afternoon, the delegation visited the University of Hong Kong, where they engaged with Associate Vice President Yin Xiaobo and faculty members. The conversation revolved around cooperation in fields like ocean engineering, artificial intelligence, and new materials, and both parties expressed interest in exploring future collaborations.

On February 14, the delegation continued their discussions, first meeting with Vice-Chancellor Chen Weiyi of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. They explored expanding joint talent cultivation programs and strengthening research cooperation. The HEU delegation also invited CUHK to participate in the upcoming World University Underwater Robot Competition.

Later on February 14, President Song and his delegation met with President Teng Jinguang and Associate Vice-President Wang Zuankai of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. The meeting centered on reviewing past exchanges and cooperation, as well as discussing ways to deepen and expand future collaboration.

During their time in Hong Kong, the delegation also met with HEU alumni and students enrolled in joint programs. President Song extended Lantern Festival greetings to HEU students, asking about their academic and living experiences. He encouraged them to seize the opportunities available to them, continue improving their skills, and achieve greater academic success.
