On February 20, Hainan Provincial Party Secretary FENG Fei, accompanied by his delegation, visited Harbin Engineering University’s Deep-Sea Intelligent Equipment Innovation Platform. The purpose of the visit was to review the operations of the Deep and Open Sea Unmanned Equipment Industry Alliance and the activities of the resident enterprises. FENG commended the institute for its achievements in advancing the high-end marine equipment industry and expressed his hopes for continued progress in the development of shared technologies and breakthroughs in the commercialization of scientific and technological innovations.

FENG Fei stressed the importance of driving technological innovation based on market demand and establishing an open platform for collaboration. He called for the seamless integration of the innovation, industrial, financial, and talent ecosystems to expedite the creation of an industrial ecosystem that encompasses foundational research, technological development, application expansion, industrial clustering, and talent aggregation. Furthermore, he emphasized the need to accelerate the "Smart Ocean" initiative to enhance independent innovation capabilities and support the high-quality development of the marine economy.

Harbin Engineering University’s Deep-Sea Intelligent Equipment Innovation Platform covers 7,000 square meters and currently hosts 13 enterprises in the high-end marine equipment industry. In December 2024, the Deep and Open Sea Unmanned Equipment Industry Alliance was formed to advance research and the practical application of deep-sea unmanned vehicles and marine sensor technologies, contributing to the development of new productive forces within the marine sector.
