On February 25, YU Hongtao, a Standing Committee Member of the Provincial Party Committee, visited Harbin Engineering University (HEU) for a research survey. During the visit, he emphasized the importance of preserving the university’s outstanding traditions and focusing on its strengths in scientific research. YU also underscored the need to integrate resources and enhance coordination across education, technology, and talent development. He highlighted the importance of collaboration between the university and the city to promote technological self-reliance, stimulate industrial revitalization through innovation, and contribute to Harbin's high-quality development.

At the university’s Technology Achievement Exhibition Hall, YU Hongtao and other officials were briefed on significant technological breakthroughs, the establishment of independent research and development platforms, the commercialization of scientific achievements, and innovations in systems and mechanisms. They also received an update on the planning and development of the HEU Innovation and Entrepreneurship Ecological Circle. YU pointed out that Harbin Engineering University, which was founded and grew in Harbin, has deep roots and a strong talent pool. He encouraged the university to fully leverage its academic strengths, align more closely with industrial needs, and accelerate the translation of scientific research into real-world applications.
During the visit, YU Hongtao chaired a symposium, where he received a report on the university’s development and discussed further support for HEU’s “Double First-Class” initiative. The meeting emphasized the need to support the university in expediting the construction of key laboratories, addressing critical technological challenges, and strengthening its scientific research and innovation capabilities. Full support was pledged for the development of the new campus, with a focus on ensuring adequate resources and infrastructure to enhance teaching, research, and talent development.
