On March 24, Harbin Engineering University (HEU) hosted a promotion campaign for the 2025 "World Water Day" and "China Water Week" at Orekhov Square. With the theme "Championing Glacier Conservation and Practicing Water-Saving Actions in Universities," the campaign combined online and offline efforts, integrating science education with practical actions to foster a strong water-saving culture.

Before the event, organizers published feature articles on the WeChat official account, raising awareness about the global glacier melting crisis and the progress of China's water conservancy projects. Promotional posters for World Water Day were displayed on electronic screens across key locations, such as the Administrative Main Building and Qihang Activity Center, creating a dynamic publicity matrix.

The event featured five immersive interactive experience zones, drawing significant participation from students and faculty. At the "Speak Up for Water Resources" commitment wall, students wrote their water-saving pledges and posted them on the wall, taking photos as advocates for water conservation. In the "Simple Water Purifier Making" challenge area, participants assembled water purification devices by hand, watching as turbid water transformed into clean water through layered filtration. These hands-on activities not only deepened students' understanding of the importance of water conservation but also educated them on global glacier issues and water-saving solutions.

On the day of the event, student volunteers distributed water-saving bookmarks and guides in Teaching Building 21B, posted water-saving reminder signs in water-using areas such as restrooms and kitchens, and checked water-related facilities throughout the building. They promptly reported and arranged repairs when potential water leakage issues were identified, demonstrating their commitment to water conservation through practical actions and incorporating water-saving habits into their daily routines.

Universities serve as key environments for shaping future leaders. Water-saving education is not only crucial for the campus environment but also reflects the broader social responsibility of young people. HEU will continue to promote the development of a water-saving campus, carrying out facility maintenance and water-saving awareness campaigns, making "small actions" an integral part of campus life, and contributing to sustainable development.
