On April 9, a research delegation from the Heilongjiang Provincial Cybersecurity and Informatization Expert Advisory Committee visited Harbin Engineering University (HEU) to explore potential collaborations in smart agriculture. The delegation was led by YUAN Cheng, former Chief Director of the Science and Technology Committee of the Second Academy of Aerospace, and included representatives from the Hebei Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, as well as industry leaders. HEU Vice President YAN Rujian attended the symposium.

Vice President YAN Rujian extended a warm welcome to YUAN Cheng and his team. He provided an overview of HEU’s history, academic strengths, and research capabilities, with a particular emphasis on its strategic initiatives in smart agriculture. He highlighted the university's achievements in areas such as precision grain processing, intelligent agricultural machinery, agricultural robotics, and smart livestock farming. YAN emphasized HEU’s commitment to leveraging its expertise across various disciplines to accelerate the development of smart agriculture, integrating advanced technologies like intelligent control, electromechanical engineering, low-altitude technology, and artificial intelligence to enhance agricultural productivity.
YUAN Cheng acknowledged the national push to modernize agricultural machinery and equipment. He expressed hope that the visit would serve as a platform to consolidate the university’s innovation resources, establish a high-level scientific and technological platform for the agricultural machinery industry, and explore integrated agricultural and mechanical solutions that support agricultural modernization.
JIN Yu, Director of the Hebei Provincial Agricultural Mechanization Administration, provided an in-depth introduction to the province’s agricultural landscape, noting its rich application scenarios and favorable market conditions. As a key agricultural province, Hebei faces technical challenges that require collaboration across government, industry, academia, and end-users. He expressed a strong interest in strengthening cooperation with HEU in areas such as high-end intelligent agricultural machinery, agricultural robotics, and smart livestock farming, with the goal of transforming and applying high-quality scientific innovations.
Both parties agreed to establish a long-term cooperation mechanism, focusing on the intelligent upgrading of agricultural machinery, grain production safety, and smart livestock farming. They committed to deepening practical collaboration through regular communication, accelerating the development of mature technological projects, and jointly addressing key technical challenges.
