On April 17, Harbin Engineering University (HEU) hosted a meeting with a delegation from Thailand's Office of the Basic Education Commission (OBEC) at the Qihang Activity Center. The delegation, led by Mr. Sarayut Thisrichai, Deputy Director of OBEC Bangkok District 1, included 30 representatives, comprising secondary school principals and teachers.

DOU Zheng, Director of the Office of International Exchange & Cooperation, highlighted that HEU plans to leverage artificial intelligence to innovate educational models and foster personalized student development. Additionally, both institutions aim to establish cultural exchange platforms. Through initiatives such as international cultural festivals, summer programs, and the "Chinese Bridge" program, they seek to strengthen cooperation, enhance faculty and student exchanges, support joint research, and promote cultural interactions, ultimately fostering greater Sino-Thai cultural integration and nurturing talent with a global perspective.

Mr. Sarayut expressed strong support for the proposed collaboration initiatives and conveyed OBEC's desire to expand educational exchanges with HEU. He emphasized that Thailand hopes to launch larger-scale collaborative projects, such as teacher and civil servant training programs, joint curriculum development, and the sharing of educational resources, all aimed at improving the quality of basic education in Thailand. Sarayut also noted that the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Thailand marks a significant milestone, and that their educational partnership will infuse long-lasting vitality into bilateral relations.

During the meeting, the Office of International Exchange & Cooperation signed a cooperation agreement with OBEC, while the School of International Cooperative Education also formalized agreements with 13 Thai secondary schools, including Bodindecha (Sing Singhaseni) School, Patumkongka School, and Bangkao Royal Crown Prince School.
DING Xuezhong, Dean of the College of International Cooperative Education, noted that with these new agreements, HEU now has 131 high school recruitment bases in Thailand. The university is committed to fostering an environment of openness, inclusivity, and mutual benefit, collaborating with Thai partners to explore innovative educational models and jointly cultivate talent that is both creative and practical.
Following the meeting, the Thai delegation visited the Harbin Military Engineering Institute Memorial Hall and HEU’s sports facilities. They also engaged in in-depth discussions with Thai students currently studying at HEU.
