On July 2, Harbin Engineering University (HEU) hosted the 8th “Intellectual Property Cup” University Invention and Innovation Competition of Heilongjiang Province. HEU students achieved outstanding results, winning three first prizes, five second prizes, and two third prizes. In addition, eight faculty members were recognized as “Outstanding Instructors,” and the university received the “Outstanding Organization Award.”
The closing ceremony was attended by WANG Weiqun, Director of the Heilongjiang Intellectual Property Administration; ZHANG Zhe, Deputy Director of the Heilongjiang Department of Science and Technology; LIU Honghui, Vice Chairman of the Heilongjiang Association for Science and Technology; WANG Yihai, Second-Level Inspector of the Heilongjiang Communist Youth League Committee; and YIN Jingwei, Vice President of Harbin Engineering University.

In his remarks, WANG Weiqun emphasized that “innovation is the primary driver of development.” He commended the competition entries for their strong practical relevance and market potential, reflecting the province’s commitment to deepening collaboration between industry, academia, research, and application. He also reaffirmed that the Heilongjiang Intellectual Property Administration will maintain a steady development strategy, push forward reforms in IP governance, and accelerate the province’s transformation into a leader in intellectual property.

Vice President YIN Jingwei highlighted that “intellectual property is a vital indicator of the value of scientific innovation.” He noted that HEU adheres to the principles of “high-quality creation, high-standard protection, and high-value utilization,” and leads nationally in revitalizing dormant patents, building inclusive patent pools, and commercializing research outcomes. He reiterated the university’s commitment to supporting Heilongjiang’s industrial development by promoting IP industrialization and contributing to the province’s high-quality revitalization.

DENG Lu, Deputy Director of the Heilongjiang Intellectual Property Administration, announced the competition results: a total of 20 first prizes, 40 second prizes, and 124 third prizes were awarded. In addition, 64 individuals were recognized as “Outstanding Instructors,” and 20 universities received the “Outstanding Organization Award.”
Launched in 2018, the “Intellectual Property Cup” University Invention and Innovation Competition aims to enhance public awareness of IP protection and promote innovation and entrepreneurship among university students. It serves as a key platform for integrating scientific research with intellectual property education in the province’s higher education system.
