On July 4, the School of Foreign Studies hosted a seminar focused on AI-enhanced foreign language teaching research. The event, presided over by Professor ZHU Dianyong, Dean of the School of Foreign Studies, brought together all full-time faculty members. Notable keynote speakers included Professor GAO Yang from Xi’an Jiaotong University and Professor QIN Lili from Guangdong University of Foreign Studies. They provided valuable insights on the integration of digital intelligence in foreign language education, addressing three key areas: technological innovation, academic development, and faculty empowerment.

Professor GAO Yang’s lecture, titled “Building a Digital-Intelligent Education Ecosystem: Integrating AIGC Technology with Ideological Education in Foreign Language Courses,” explored the potential of AI-Generated Content (AIGC) in language teaching. Using case studies from the Understanding Contemporary China textbook series, he highlighted innovative practices in curriculum development through intelligent teaching platforms.

Professor QIN Lili presented a study using Q-methodology to analyze university English instructors’ readiness to adopt Generative Artificial Intelligence (GAI). She introduced a groundbreaking “Cognitive-Affective-Behavioral” framework, offering new theoretical insights and analytical tools for advancing teacher development research.

The School of Foreign Studies reaffirmed its commitment to advancing the university’s AI-driven educational strategy, emphasizing the integration of AI technologies into language teaching. Future initiatives include regular workshops and demonstration sessions with leading scholars, the development of a continuous faculty training platform to encourage knowledge sharing, and the promotion of practical AI applications in classrooms to develop innovative and globally competent foreign language professionals.
