On August 22, the Third General Assembly of the Ship and Ocean Systems Engineering Technical Committee, under the Systems Engineering Society of China (SESC), was held at Harbin Engineering University (HEU). The event was hosted by SESC and organized by the School of Economics and Management. The opening ceremony was attended by YU Zhiwen, Vice President of HEU, and YANG Xiaoguang, Chairman of SESC, who both delivered speeches. Also present were XIA Guihua, Vice Chairman of the Chinese Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers; TANG Xijin, Secretary General of SESC; ZHAO Jinlou, Chairman of the Second Ship and Ocean Systems Engineering Technical Specialized Committee; and YIN Hang, Assistant to the President of HEU.

In his address, YU Zhiwen emphasized HEU’s commitment to the development of its economics and management disciplines, highlighting the importance of both strategic planning and practical improvements. He also noted the university’s active promotion of interdisciplinary integration and innovation, which has led to significant achievements in talent development and scientific research. YU stated that the conference aims to establish a high-level platform for exchange, fostering deeper interactions, resource sharing, and collaboration among universities, research institutes, and industry enterprises.

YANG Xiaoguang remarked that, since its inception, the Ship and Ocean Systems Engineering Technical Specialized Committee has leveraged HEU’s academic strengths to facilitate exchanges, research collaborations, and talent development, resulting in notable achievements. He expressed hope that the newly established committee would focus on addressing complex and emerging challenges in ship and ocean systems engineering, providing enhanced academic and intellectual support.

ZHAO Jinlou delivered the “Work Report of the Second Ship and Ocean Systems Engineering Technical Specialized Committee”, which provided a comprehensive summary of the significant accomplishments during its tenure.

YIN Hang was elected Chair of the Third Specialized Committee and presented the committee’s work plan. He outlined the focus for this year, which includes “industry-education integration, innovation-driven development, and open collaboration”, aiming to continue supporting the advancement of ship and ocean systems engineering.
