
On October 9, SONG Yingdong, Secretary of the Party Committee of Harbin Engineering University (HEU), and YIN Jingwei, President of HEU, led a delegation on research visits to Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (NUAA) and Nanjing University of Science and Technology (NUST).
On the morning of October 9, ZHEN Liang, Secretary of the NUAA Party Committee, and JIANG Bin, President of NUAA, met with the delegation led by SONG Yingdong and YIN Jingwei.
SONG Yingdong emphasized the solid foundation and effective mechanisms already established through long-standing collaboration between the two institutions. He noted that their respective strengths in complementary disciplines and interconnected industrial sectors provide a strong basis for enhanced, in-depth interaction on key issues related to high-quality development, ultimately contributing more significantly to national development.
YIN Jingwei expressed that NUAA’s successful experiences across various areas offer valuable insights worthy of in-depth study. He expressed hope to build upon the existing fruitful cooperation by establishing regular communication channels, fully leveraging their respective advantages to cultivate more top-notch innovative talent and deliver more landmark achievements, thereby jointly accelerating the pace towards building world-class universities.
ZHEN Liang highlighted that both HEU and NUAA are sibling universities under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. He expressed hope that both sides would focus on national strategic needs, further strengthening exchanges and collaboration, particularly around key core technologies, to make more substantial contributions to advancing new industrialization and the modernization of national defense.

Presiding over the meeting, JIANG Bin acknowledged HEU’s valuable experience and outstanding contributions in serving the national strategy focusing on “Three Oceans and One Nuclear”. He suggested that the two universities fully engage in sharing and learning from each other’s experiences in university governance and administration. He also emphasized the need to enhance coordination on major scientific research initiatives, leveraging their respective strengths to plan significant research projects aligned with the national major development strategies for the 15th Five-Year Plan period.

On the afternoon of October 9, LU Guibin, Secretary of the NUST Party Committee, and YANG Yixin, President of NUST, met with the delegation led by SONG Yingdong and YIN Jingwei.
SONG Yingdong pointed out that NUST and HEU, both originating from the legacy of the Harbin Military Engineering Institute, share common goals in serving major national strategies and supporting the development of defense science and technology. He noted the remarkable results and profound friendship built over years of mutual support in talent cultivation and scientific research. He expressed hope that this visit would serve as an opportunity to further deepen inter-university cooperation, establishing a model of deeper and broader collaboration to achieve both the connotative development of higher education and a concerted effort towards meeting national strategic needs.
YIN Jingwei stated that NUST has achieved notable successes in recent years in areas such as talent development and technological innovation. These strengths complement HEU’s prominent advantages in naval architecture, ocean engineering, and related fields, creating new opportunities for future cross-disciplinary collaboration. He expressed hope for enhanced cooperation between the two universities in jointly tackling major research projects and fostering interdisciplinary integration to better serve national strategic requirements.
LU Guibin remarked that HEU, building on its distinctive focus in shipbuilding industry, marine equipment, ocean exploration, and nuclear energy application which is “SMON” in short, has developed numerous national key projects and cultivated a large number of outstanding talents. He expressed hope that the two universities would combine their strengths across multiple areas to jointly provide increased strategic support for national development.

YANG Yixin noted HEU’s remarkable accomplishments in the fields of naval architecture, marine engineering, and nuclear science and technology. He advocated for even closer and deeper exchanges and interactions to further strengthen collaboration, promoting mutual learning and advancement in all aspects of university governance and academic endeavors, thereby collectively contributing wisdom and strength to national construction.
