On December 15, the 3rd International Conference on International Chinese Education and the Heilongjiang Provincial University Training Session on International Student Affairs were held at Harbin Engineering University (HEU).
Vice President YU Zhiwen, WANG Shaosong, Director of the Foreign Cooperation and Exchange Division of the Heilongjiang Provincial Department of Education, and HUANG Lei, Deputy General Manager of Chinese Testing International Education Technology (Beijing) Co., Ltd., attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. Guests including HU Zhiping, Chairman of the Chinese Culture International Communication Professional Committee of the China Non-Government Education Association, and WANG Weimin, General Manager of Lianhua International Insurance Brokers (Beijing) Co., Ltd., were also invited to attend.
YU Zhiwen noted that HEU has always been committed to promoting the internationalization and interdisciplinary integration of Chinese education, actively building platforms for academic dialogue and cultural exchange between China and other countries. Currently, global Chinese education is entering a critical phase of high-quality development. It is hoped that participating experts and scholars will speak freely, build consensus, and jointly contribute wisdom and strength to advancing the construction of a modern Chinese education system.
WANG Shaosong emphasized that international Chinese education and international student affairs are core components of opening up education to the world. Heilongjiang Province integrates the resources of its universities’ International Chinese Education programs, leverages the role of Confucius Institutes within provincial universities in promoting Chinese language learning and disseminating traditional Chinese culture, and builds an international Chinese education system characterized by cooperation with Russia and radiating throughout Northeast Asia, thereby elevating the level of educational openness in Heilongjiang.
HUANG Lei stated that in the new era shaped by globalization and digitalization, international Chinese education is undergoing a systematic transformation. Chinese Testing International is dedicated to providing globally integrated professional services encompassing “teaching, learning, evaluation, testing, and research,” striving to establish a new intelligent-led ecosystem for Chinese education assessment. It aims to work with global partners to jointly advance international Chinese education toward a higher quality and more sustainable future.
This conference innovatively adopted a dual-track model combining “academic discussion” with “practical training,” structured around three main sections, and featured 17 high-quality specialized reports delivered by leading scholars and industry experts from around the world.
The successful organization of this conference not only established a high-level exchange platform for Chinese education professionals domestically and internationally, but also precisely aligned with the developmental needs of Heilongjiang’s international student affairs. It holds significant importance for promoting high-quality and substantive development in both international Chinese education research and international student work across the province. Moving forward, Harbin Engineering University will continue to serve as a bridge and link, promoting the broader global reach of Chinese language and culture.
