On December 15, DONG Mingzhu, Chairman of Gree Electric Appliances, Inc. of Zhuhai, led a five-member delegation to Harbin Engineering University (HEU) to explore deepening university-enterprise synergy.

The delegation was welcomed by SONG Yingdong, Party Secretary of HEU, and YIN Jingwei, President of HEU. High-level attendees included WANG Bo, Vice Mayor of Harbin; DONG Tianjing, Director of the Harbin Bureau of Enterprise and Investment Services; SHANG Rui, Chairman of the Harbin Women’s Federation; and YIN Hang, Vice President of HEU.
SONG Yingdong expressed his gratitude to Gree for its sustained support, praising the company as a benchmark for innovation in China’s manufacturing sector. He hoped that taking this exchange as an opportunity, the two sides would expand cooperation through “organized scientific research” and joint talent cultivation, and tntegrate education and technology to drive “new-quality productive forces” and high-level self-reliance in science and technology.
YIN Jingwei reviewed the successful history between the two entities, noting their progress in joint research applications and technical problem-solving. He stated that the two sides have established a systematic, long-term strategic partnership. He expected the two sides to jointly undertake major national research tasks and co-build innovation centers to bridge the gap between lab research and industrial application.
DONG Mingzhu commended HEU’s research prowess and achievements, particularly in the SMON sectors. She emphasized that the foundation for collaboration is solid and ripe for expansion. She hoped the two sides would further focus on aligning resources for “key core technologies”, exploring the co-construction of high-level innovation platforms, and working together to deepen the university-enterprise model to cultivate the next generation of outstanding engineers and innovative leaders.
The symposium concluded with a consensus on several frontier fields, including artificial intelligence & intelligent manufacturing, green manufacturing & new energy, and the low-altitude economy. Both parties agreed to prioritize the co-construction of R&D platforms, enhance personnel exchanges, and streamline graduate recruitment to support the high-quality development of China’s manufacturing industry.
