The China Scholarship Council has officially announced the results of its 2026/2027 “Silk Road” Chinese Government Scholarship program. Harbin Engineering University’s (HEU) proposed “High-Level Talent Development Program in Smart Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering” has been successfully approved, marking the tenth consecutive year that HEU has received this award. This year’s program offers fully funded scholarships to international students from Belt and Road partner countries, including Russia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Thailand, supporting global blue economy cooperation and the high-quality development of the maritime industry.
The “Silk Road” Chinese Government Scholarship is designed to cultivate industry leaders and skilled professionals for Belt and Road partner countries. As a key research and talent development hub in naval architecture and ocean engineering, HEU closely aligns its efforts with the needs of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road and the green, smart transformation of the shipbuilding industry. The university offers programs in five specialized areas: Naval Architecture and Ocean Structure Design and Manufacturing, Control Science and Engineering, Power Engineering and Engineering Thermophysics, Information and Communication Engineering, and Mechanics. These programs are precisely tailored to meet the high-end maritime talent needs of partner countries, aiming to develop professionals who can apply and promote Chinese technology, identify with and disseminate Chinese education, and advocate for and contribute to Sino-foreign exchanges.
Since 2017, HEU has secured the “Silk Road” Chinese Government Scholarship for ten consecutive years, making it a key pillar of the university’s opening-up in education and its service to national educational development. Going forward, HEU will leverage this program as a strategic vehicle to enhance the quality of its international education, aspiring to become a globally influential center for maritime and ocean engineering education.
