
A seven-member delegation led by Professor Kenneth Kamwi Matengu, Vice Chancellor of the University of Namibia (UNAM), alongside a three-member team from China National Nuclear Corporation Overseas Ltd., visited Harbin Engineering University (HEU) on May 16. HEU President Yin Jingwei met with the visiting guests.

YIN Jingwei provided a detailed overview of HEU’s history, academic strengths, and the achievements of the Chinese Government Atomic Energy Scholarship Program. He noted the strong alignment between the two universities in disciplinary development and expressed the hope for pragmatic cooperation in areas such as academic program development, faculty and student exchanges, and scientific innovation. He also emphasized the shared goal of supporting the advancement of higher education in Namibia and injecting fresh momentum into Sino-Namibian academic collaboration.

Professor Kenneth Kamwi Matengu highlighted HEU’s academic heritage and development accomplishments. He offered a briefing on the University of Namibia’s current landscape and future directions, expressing a desire to draw on HEU’s experience in disciplinary construction, talent cultivation, and scientific research. He also called for deepening practical collaboration and establishing long-term mechanisms to jointly train professionals and strengthen higher education exchanges and cooperation between China and Namibia.
The two sides conducted in-depth discussions on academic program development, graduate student training, faculty exchanges, and research innovation, reaching a preliminary consensus on cooperation.
During their visit, the delegation toured HEU’s specialized laboratories and other educational facilities, gaining firsthand experience of the campus learning environment. Representatives from International Office and relevant colleges attended the meeting.
