Harbin Engineering University’s graduation season campus marathon kicked off energetically on 17 June. LI Rongsheng, Deputy Party Secretary of the HEU, attended the event and fired the starting pistol. Over 600 graduating and current students gathered at the South Stadium to capture exclusive youthful memories through an energetic run.

The event featured two divisions: the Competitive Division and the Commemorative Division. The Competitive Division focused on individual finish times, with separate awards for male and female runners. Participants in the Commemorative Division could claim a finisher medal after completing graduation season interactive check-ins along the designated route. The 5-kilometre route started and ended at the South Stadium.

As the starting pistol fired, runners in the Competitive Division surged across the starting line first. Along the course, volunteers provided orderly guidance and well-stocked supply stations, allowing runners to sweat and strive forward across the campus.

Rather than competing for speed, participants in the Commemorative Division focused on reliving their campus memories, completing fun interactive activities at four checkpoints. Running, checking in and laughing along the way, they wove every corner of the campus into their graduation memories.

After fierce competition, JIN Zichao from the School of Economics and Management, HE Tianyi from the College of Underwater Acoustic Engineering, and WANG Peng from the College of Nuclear Science and Technology took the top three places in the men’s Competitive Division. HUANG Yixin from the College of Materials Science and Chemical Engineering, PENG Jiayi from the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, and ZOU Yixuan from the College of Information and Communication Engineering claimed the top three spots in the women’s Competitive Division.

HEU has been advancing the concept of “full health coverage” and vigorously promoting “sports for all”, making physical activity a daily routine for every teacher and student. This graduation season campus marathon is not only a physical challenge but also a meaningful graduation ceremony. It inspires the 2026 graduating class to embark on a new journey in life with a strong physique and high morale, contributing their youthful strength to the vibrant practice of national development.
